bigger motors won't need to spin as high to more heavily tax that manifolds runner size. I'd still have to port it though. lol
You win, 4.0 Commander, We only planning on spinning to 7500 or so and the Super Victor is just to small for a big bore Windsor we should be fine with just a port match.

You must have misunderstood my specific meaning.. as I didn't specifically say it "needed to be much bigger".. as porting is far more than just "hogging out the ports". So, just because the manifold is big and has an extended plenum does not mean that it is perfect in every way and for every motor combo. There is almost ALWAYS something that can be improved upon. In the end, mathematics can and will get you closer to optimum but any proficient head porter will ALWAYS see any as-cast intake manifold only as a nearly finished canvas with some paint by numbers left to be filled in to make it even better. A flow bench will also flush out runner to runner flow discrepancies as there is also still much to be gained by tuning taper and entry radii while smoothing transitions along with machining and casting irregularities out of the picture. Ideally, the head gets bolted to the manifold for those tests.. but then we get into cream of the crop big money testing that sportsman racers rarely do. I can guarantee you that the engine masters winners using this similar manifold design will have ported the living hell out of it to finesses those last few points out of their motors. Kasse and Bischoff leave nothing on the table when they're trying to win. I port all my own stuff and just try to hang on their coattails whenever possible. Still a badass manifold even if it's simply just "bolted on" in as-cast form. Hell, I wish I had a motor that could even use that much potential airflow in the first place! lol
Lol..sorry.. I got that now on the reread. Then based on that, I would also add that wot drag race cars don't necessarily need or prefer reversion dams created from manifold to head port mismatches. Port matched intakes are par for the course at the level he's running here. Every little bit helps in a cumulative fashion. That manifold is sized perfectly fine if the compression ratio is up where it should be. Bigger ports have similar impact to making the runner length shorter to pick up peak power. As it sits.. good for about 800 horses according to CHI. Needs heavier work to go more than that.
