Paul Masson's 71 Grabber

Finally installed my Brand NEW reproduction washer fluid reservoir! I polished my lid, but I could use a slightly better one later on.

Thanks to @BKelley for letting me know about this product, and being able to buy one via the supplier directly, as well as @goldnrod for picking one up for me while he was cross-border shopping! A perfect fit and it looks exactly like the original (minus the ugly yellow plastic).

These are currently available through Melvin's Classic Ford.

 

Does that come with the pump?

My dad bought a new Grabber in 71. Didn't look that NICE under the hood.

 

Nope, just the reservoir. I found a bunch of TRICO pumps for sale at a Mardens Discount store for $4 each, so I bought one of those. Lots of pumps on Rock Auto for cheap, too. It's not worth trying to swap pumps out of the old one.

Got my seats back from being professionally cleaned and deodorized and got the rear ones installed. I was very impressed with how clean and "mouse-hotel-free" they smell now.

It cost me a few bucks to go this route but it saved me from having to rip these ones apart and recover/reupholster them when I'd rather save that money for buckets later on.

 

any idea what they treated the seats with? i heard that ozone is used to get rid of bad smells...

I'm not sure if they used ozone or not. She said they had a multi-step process. I know the underside of the seats looked clean where they were stained before. They don't smell of ozone. All I can really smell is the burlap, and that's not a bad thing!

On a side note, a guy at work was getting his car ozone treated for cigarette smoke that he noticed oozing out a week after he bought it.

I'll admit, I've never really been a big fan of Sport Wheels, but this particular one came from a 79 F-150 that my wife's Grandfather bought new. I got it off the truck this spring from a friend of the family who bought the truck back in 2004.

I've seen these wheels in a lot of early Grabbers and it IS a Ford wheel, so there shouldn't be any fire concerns like in some aftermarket wheels. My biggest complaint is that the emblems are usually ones I associate with later models, but I got past that with a spare Center cap emblem I massaged to fit...

I'm not sure if it suits the car or not. I'm kinda on the fence right now...

If I keep the Sport Wheel, something needs to be done to restore/dye/cover the rim, as the black is just about all gone but there is no damage to the soft material. I have already painted the spokes and the center piece silver.

 

How can you not be a fan of that steering wheel??
It looks awesome. 'Would look even better with the center cap painted semi-flat black (I like when the entire steering wheel is semi-flat black). I hate the stock '70-'74 steering wheel. I like the '75-'77 (even more if it's leather-wrapped), but that sport wheel is way cool.

Is that the leather version, or the vinyl?

 

Thanks! It is NOT leather. The foam or whatever it's made of is in good condition but the black paint/vinyl/covering is all but gone. Another uncertainty with keeping this wheel. I've been thinking about @mercgt73 's wrap maybe.
