You have a lot on your plate. Ha Ha. That passenger door takes both styles of inside hardware....so it can be converted to the early style.
Thank you Craig. Are the guts and door panel going to be near impossible to find to match what I have on the drivers door? Im very new to the Maverick/ Comet world so I do not know what is a hot commodity or basic stuff.
My first Comet, a 71 with a blue woven vinyl bench seat, had blue door panels with a matching inset of woven blue vinyl, yet had small armrests! I am positive they were smalls, too, because I replaced them with the rear armrests out of a 71 Torino (The Torino fronts were the longer style, like Grabber) I wish I had more pics of that first Comet. Odd car .... 302, stick with a floor shift, no other options except an AM radio, (no AIR, in Florida!), yet it had a nice interior. That woven vinyl seating was comfortable.
Looks like they also got pre-leaned cushions ... LOL The odd thing about my first Comet was that I doubt it was a deluxe interior, but the inset in the door panel was similar, yet different to the Grabber/GT panels. Still had the small armrests. And that Comet was not a GT ... pretty plain jane.
Craig can you tell me what years or what to look for to determine if the doors can be converted to the newer or back to older style ? I have the doors that look like the driver's door with the exception of it has no toggle for the sport mirrors. Would it be setup the same for a newer door panel being made in 09/71 by any chance? I have the panel off and as far as I know the door is the original as with everything else
See attached picture. While this door came with the 1970-1972 inner door handle, it also has provisions for the 1973-1977 style (in green)
