My `60s vintage Keystones where not in perfect condition so my son murdered them out. I believe they go well with my black vinyl roof. No wheel caps were the trend in the late `60s and early `70s.

I would love to get my comet to look like that. It's brown with a black vinyl top currently with a red hood. Body works first on the list though after I find a set of reliable wheels.

Do you think finding tires to fit and look decent will be difficult?

Those Mustang rims should be winners with 7/8 spacers right? I've been reading up and I think they just might do it.

Frank's right. 14" performance tires are getting more scarce and most with enough width to fill out the wheel housings end up looking to small in diameter due to the shorter aspect ratios that typically accompany the wider tire sizes.

You can get a good idea of tire spec's based on various sizes from this site.

Anyone know where I can find the 7/8 spacers for the first set listed?

Not sure if it's that critical to keep it limited to 7/8" vs the more standard 1" size.. but there's tons of "billet wheel spacers" being made in all sizes and bolt patterns these days. Google is your friend. Well.. unless you get a virus from using it too much. Lol

The Mustang wheels look good. Space them out however much is necessary. I would bet the rears would need spaced out a little more than the fronts.

why so?.. mainly for looks/equalizing front to rear track width?

I would think it the other way around from a clearance standpoint.

Because Maverick rearends are quite narrow, and because if the front of your car is lower than stock height, the tires (wider than stock) will rub the fender lips if the wheels are spaced outward too far. Of course if you run really wide tires on the back, you won't want them spaced out too far either.
