Thanks..... Unfortunately the progress has been a little slow the last couple weeks, but that's how it goes sometimes......
I was sitting around doing nothing so I decided to go back to the shop for a little while..... I managed to get the reverse piston seals, springs and clutch pack in..... Then I put the planetary assembly in..... Next I assembled and checked the clearances the 6 clutch front drum assembly, put it and the input shaft in..... Forgot my phone so no pic's.....
Finally today I got the transmission put together..... All I need to do it put the shift linkage and back up light brackets I made/modified and painted today..... After that I will test fit the converter to the engine and get the trans in the car..... Today's progress.....
The trans is in, and it only took 3 tries..... I test fitted everything I could think of, but the first time I put it in I found the back up light switch to be a little close to the tunnel for my liking(it didn't hit but close)..... The second everything cleared fine, but I could not get all 6 converter bolts to go in, I had to adjust 3 of the holes slightly with a die grinder..... So in it goes the 3rd time, happy day everything bolted up properly this time..... I went ahead and mocked up another piece of the exhaust and measured it for the drive shaft..... Here's today's progress.....
Yes sir, it actually fits in there really well and the 6cyl crossmember allows a place for the transbrake solenoid to go.....
Hi Frank: SWEET !! Just noticed the FTI markings on the Tranny . It's interesting to us since they are our 'neighbor' .. We just helped one of their people unload a pallet of converters and place it in their building with our fork lift. Neat people .. They have their main building about 4 blocks from us , and another building ( just across the street from our shop) Afterwards they volunteered the use of their ' lathe ' if ever needed. ( Good to know ) .. Anyway ... I noticed in one of the photos that the pan on the tranny seems to be on an angle or tipped UP slightly in the rear . Looks like a stock tranny support with a spacer .. Is this an optical conclusion or is it just the way it looks in the photo ? Just curious Frank .. incidentally .. been following your progress with this car .. Expert workmanship and I'm always impressed with your thoroughness and attention to ' detail ' kudos Mister !! Cometized (Chip)
Thanks..... Yeah it has a few FTI components in it..... The pan is up at the back, just the way a glide is..... If you made the pan parallel to the ground the tail shaft would point into the dirt.....

I got the driveshaft made this week, so I put that in first thing to make sure it fit ok..... Then I worked on some of the pieces for the exhaust..... I also looked at what fittings I will need to make the trans cooler lines from the strut tower to the trans..... Today's progress.....
Yesterday I also put a flywheel lock on the motor and torqued the ATI balancer to the ridiculous 230 ft lbs they request..... Today I got the hood out, and mocked it up to check for hood clearance..... After that I bolted my custom export brace in place and mocked up the not yet finished Monte Carlo bar..... I test fitted the LS1 intake manifold, I have been trying to decide if I will use this intake or go with the spider style with a 4150 throttle body and carb hat..... I like the look of the 4150 set up and it will fit, but I think I am just going to use the LS1 intake set up(just makes more sense)..... Sense I am going to use the Ls1 stuff I went ahead and bolted the valley cover on, and put the new knock sensors and harness in for now..... I also looked at where I want to mount the Holley ecu under the dash and decided I need to rearrange some stuff..... And sense I need to rewire most of it anyways I removed the radio and instrument cluster..... Next week I'll remove the rest of the wiring and get the ecu mounted..... I need to get the ecu mounted so I can route and put the connector on the shielded crank, cam and wideband sensor wires(I want to get the crank sensor plugged in so I can put the starter in and not have to mess with it again)..... The rest of the Holley harness will go through the firewall feed connector on the driver side, but I don't want to take a chance on routing the shielded ones through that connector..... Here it is with the intake and one of the fuel rails mocked up..... and here with the valley cover and knock sensors installed.....
I got a little done on the exhaust this week, I fitted the last piece before the muffler this morning..... Then I redrilled the upper rear shock brackets so I can extend the length of the shock at ride height, now its's in the middle of it's travel..... Then after cleaning up some crap and tools I removed most of the wiring from under the dash except for the courtesy lights, speaker and power window harnesses..... Now I need to figure out where I am going to mount the Holley HP ECU and get a bracket made for it..... Here's the redrilled shock mounts installed again..... Here's the pile of wiring I removed and threw away, then the stuff I saved for later use(mostly for connectors)..... I also printed some enlarged Holley EFI wiring picks earlier this week, so I can see and read the pin placements and colors.....
