In the days of my youth living in Niles MI we had extremely loud neighbors. Russ Smith and his son Bill build and drag raced (always Ford powered). The first car I remember was a Henry J then a Ford powered XKE. My favorite was the H class 1970 Maverick called the WARTOY. He raced mostly at US30 Dragstrip in Chicago, Martinsville MI and Osceola IN. I don't think any of these dragstrips are around anymore. Wish I had more photos. The Maverick was painted twice, first in Blue and Gold and later in Red and Gold. My brother Joe did all of the paint design and air brushing. I'm very curious to know if anyone remembers seeing this car at the strip.

I don't remember the car, but it's great that you have as many pictures of the car as you do! So many have been lost over the years.

Agree. Its even worse when it comes to video. I could watch those old drag racing vids all day, but the quality degrades markedly over time.
