hi I'm Dale, I'm from Edmonton Alberta. Me and my buddy Jeff picked up a project '73 maverick to work on. Right now I'm in the process of hunting down floor pans to replace in the car, they are pretty rotted out. does any one know of a place who has any or am I consigned to buying mustang pans to replace them with? Thanks
What frank said... Pour water in the cowl vent and see if it ends up inside the car, on the floor. If so, time to search out the cowl repair threads on the forum to get a handle on what needs to be done.
The reason for the rot is simple. In edmonton during the winter, we use a combination of salt and calcium on our roadways to help disolve the snow and ice. Eventually, if your undercarriage isn't cleaned, the bottom rots out.
I'm actually from Nor-Cal! Born and raised in pinole in the bay area. I moved to Canada with my wife after we got married. Were you from?
From New Brunswick. I would seriously check the cowl at least. My 19,000 mile original-paint car had a bad cowl... As far as floors go, @JOEXR793 was making some, but not sure if production has stopped or not. Good luck with the build!
