Looks like a really cool build, and a great experience for some lucky kids.

That's awesome to see! Has many of the same design ques that my car will eventually entail. A little too understated IMO, but keeping more inline with the purists and easily recognizable for folks who had or rode in one. I also get the theme.. but a twin turbo Ford stroker motor also makes more sense to me too.

Some pic's and greater detail in this vid.

A few screenshots I stashed in my library too.

Thanks for including the extra info on this build. Nice to see our cars starting to get respect from recognized car designer/builders. I enjoyed the video.

Gotta throw a little rice in with the cat dog and monkey on a stick. Not to mention a little bit of fried spring lizards

Like I said.. too understated and not the right powerplant used, IMHO. But car guys come in all shapes.. and colors.. which should be applauded in and unto itself.

It's like the twin turbo Supra that kicks your old school V8's ass.. errr, even if it's LS swapped. You don't have to like it but tons of people that saw it happen will also cheer very loudly. Thank god for diversity and free will.

I don't really care for the side skirts a whole lot either. Good for aero and all that but makes the car look too portly in the midsection. Rear underbody diffusers would probably help balance it out though. Mirrors look a bit out of place on that car too by trying to make it into something that it's not. Kinda surprised that Strope would even let that styling que fly off his drawing board regardless of the nationality of the people involved with the build. That car also seriously needs some hood louvers. Like really badly. Hoods far too plain jane for a roadracer style look.

I missed the power train but I have to say I hate the 'body kit'.

Rarely am I crazy enough about anything to not nitpick it apart, Frank. I do really love me some oldschool roadracer trans-am style though.. so yes, I probably do like it more than most. I get helping the kids and all that but if they really wanted to gather more attention and win some awards?.. then they'd be better off paying more attention to the Brazilian styling. Not trying to make it into a Celica or something along those lines. Plus.. they're missing that mark anyways. Still looks Brazilian inspired despite the mirrors.

Or.. Strope should be taking the reigns and stuffing it full of old Ford CanAm 494 and modeling it after the Boss powered SuperGrabber posted in our media section somewhere. I dig that guys old school styling but I guess he must not have much input going into this build. Oh well.. still nice to see more Mavericks showing up in the mainstream. :yup:

Lose the fender mounted mirrors and oversized skirts .. I think the rest of the car is cool and I'd be proud to own it !
I like the fact that he retained the original body-lines and concentrated on some really important things like TIRE MELTING POWER !! Nice Concept .

I'm not much of a ricer myself but what those young guys did was amazing. Good on them. Now back to my deep fried chicken gizzards.

I like it. I'd imagine if they made a current day maverick that is the exact motor they would put in it. Don't like little things like the mirrors, but to see someone this passionate about mavericks I'd say is awesome. He drove one in fast 5 I believe.

I like it for the most part, the skirts need to go and something needs to take up the empty space at the rear. I like the choice of the eco boost, something different that still makes good power.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i don't post here much anymore but i thought i would give some input on this build to this since i was involved with this build before it even got started back in April when Sung came over my house to ask me about Mavericks in general. Over the build i gave lot of input on this car though not all was taken. i also was able to help obtain parts for the car though the great connections of the maverick community. not to meantion my cheap plug that it runs my carbon fiber hood and trunk with the tall grabber type spoiler built into the car.

i wrote this on someone facebook post:

"i think what people need to remember if it was just another maverick jacked up on rear with weld wheels 15x9 and 15x3 with a nice paint job and a 347.... or some protour car with a Coyote in it. its been done. big deal. trust me it would not stand out from anything else. cars like that are dime a dozen. SEMA is a whats new what is different. that is what this car is. again there are somethings on that car that i probably wouldn't have done. even though i gave my input on it. BUT for what it was built for... this car is spot on. i might add this car won best Ford Design at SEMA from FORD. yes FORD. anyone can agree to disagree but bottom line it did what it was supposed to do. AND i might add this build will do what the Eleanor did for the 68 mustang. so be happy your maverick just went up in price!"

you can say what you want about car. but to be honest how many mavericks have you seen that even come close to this or one that hasn't been done already. what does your maverick look like that make it so different from a car that is already differant? ;) exactly be happy this car is getting as much attention as it has.

when is the last time your maverick got this much attention?

if you are on facebook check this video out here:

    https://www.facebook.com/maverickmancarbonclassic/videos/1132512146829687/

this will explain a lot about why things were done the way they were.

and who's built a hot wheels of your maverick? ;) (this is a prototype at Hot Wheels)

in conclusion its always easy to be a critic. but when it comes down to it whats so different about yours or mine? back in the day my car was different but now how many mavericks do you see now with the same style. some mavericks here on the forum have been being built since the day i logged on here in 14 years ago and still are not done. lol! what you guys are forgetting is what you guys wanted all along.... is recognition for the maverick.

i'll leave you with this... remember what maverick means.
