Drained the tank and repaired a leaking float for the fuel gauge.

I will hopefully know by tomorrow or Sunday! The motor is more or less ready to drop in. Just need to put on the water pump and transmission!

Got the car home today after a 13 month stay in body shop jail ! Bolted on tires and wheels and getting ready for reassembly.

Tried to figure out a brake problem (no peddle, no leaks) and found a power steering or tranny leak...Ugh.. So, I ripped out the rear seats as a stress reliever.

Cant say I have ever ripped out my seats to relieve stress, but have done plenty of other things that I wont mention to protect my innocence ( had to use spell check on that word )

The seats are trashed and need recover/replaced. As with any new toy, I want to play with everything at once. Stripping the interior out to eval the floor pan, (carpet is also trash) I know there is a rust hole in the driver rear.

A good year! Snow in the forecast for next week, so the Maverick may go into storage soon. I've had no posts in a long time for a good reason........ It has been a great year for me; a 3 year project evolving into a drivable car. Thanks to the help of many on this forum, I drove my 1972 Maverick all summer with no failures and gained the confidence to try to make the MCCI roundup next year!

Drove Hotrock 65 miles to the strip then beat on her. She turned her quickest time yet 12:50 at 109mph. Then drove home without incident. Just a walk in the park!

Test drove Kim's 72 Maverick .. The Borgeson Steering is great . Now we ' dial it in ' Alignment is next , then ..( AC hookup, Gauges, Interior clean up) , Scrub-a-dub , clay bar , wax and put some miles on the engine before the dyno the engine . Impressive little car . She is going to have to learn to drive it all over again .. but she's up to it ! It's much improved , more responsive , and it steers like it's on ' rails ' .

Took the caps off my battery and added distilled water to bring the fluid level back to spec. Also did the boat battery and travel trailer batteries.

OK.. Went back after the the brakes today. I think i have them partly figured out. Took apart the rears to find the adjuster parts just lying on the inside. Some reassembly and adjustments, and I have a very spongy half pedal. Starting to wonder if the fronts are the same.
Took my first series of pics today too. Here is the funky "custom" dash bottom. I mentioned earlier.

You get to see the poorly customized (ruined) toe panels.

That pesky hole in the drivers side rear floorboard.

Well, it's not so much what I did to my Comet today as what I bought for it. Got this 289 long block a week ago.

And some of the new parts arrived today:

It will take a while to accumulate everything I need before I can begin putting this engine together but this is a start.
