I am now the proud owner of a 72 maverick sprint with the 295 inline 6 with the c4 tranny and I was wondering what all would be required to swap it to a 351w and keep the c4 tranny
Welcome to the Forum. Search "351 swap" in the search box at the top of the home page. You can make your life a lot easier if you drop in a 302 or stroked 302. MD
I would go with the 302 but I can't find any in my price range and I found a really good deal on a 351
295??? No such thing from factory, were either 170, 200, or 250... Having swapped engines in mine(302 for 302), I'd never want to try to squeeze a 351 in mine...

Now, as for a 351w --- you said a ton in your statement about not finding a 302 at a decent price. If money is an issue for you - please take note that a 351w swap will require many added expenses and lots of extra work, compared to a 302. Just my 2 cents worth ..........

Welcome to the forum! I also agree that even if you paid more for the 302 based motor to start with you will still save money money in the long run over the 351W swap.
You can add an aftermarket cam, aluminum heads, aluminum intake and a set of headers. You can also stroke the 302 to 331 or 347 to give it more power and torque. The C4 that is behind your 200 six cylinder is not as strong as the C4's that were behind the 302's. Good luck with your project!
Depending on your budget, some basic upgrades like cam, carb, ignition, headers and heads will get you into the Mostly depends on what you want to do with the car - could you tell us more about what you envision for your car. Will it be a cool daily driver with some ponies under the hood or will it see many trips to the drag strip on the weekends? What kind of budget do you have to work with? Keep in mind these are light weight cars and even a mild built 302 with a nice rear end ratio will be a handful of muscle feel on the street ............ .
I was referencing gear ratio in my last post. A simple, cost effective build includes getting a decent 3rd member to match the new horsepower and expected tire size. The right combination benefits performance tremendously.
Well I am very fortunate for the family I have and I got a grand uncle that will sell me a running 351w for 100 bucks because of family discount and I want it to be a daily a driver with as much horsepower as I can.
