Ford 6A-D7AF-19A241-AB Have a nice looking (other than some clown cut the wiring harness ... ) Aeronutronics Ford slide bar am/fm stereo. I can't find any info on it and was wondering mostly if it needs an 8 ohm speaker or if by the later 70's Ford had changed to 4 ohm ones? I want to bench test it at full volume but would like to match the right ohm speakers first. I did test a pair of 4 ohms wired in series on each of the 4 channels and it has decent sound and power. But I didn't crank it up to see what it sounded like at full volumn - just tested to see if each channel was working. Any thoughts on this old radio?
You ban crank it up on either four or eight ohm speakers, it doesn't make enough power to be critical...
Thanks Tom, I was hoping you would answer. I know you have had a lot of experience with the old radios ............. My plan is to put one of the dual voice cone 5x7 in the dash and a couple 6x9 in the back package tray. Finding 8 ohm 6x9 is easy but that DVC 5x7 seems to be all 4 ohm. Mixing speaker ratings - Would it hurt to use the 8 ohms in the back and the 4 ohm DVC in the front?
Just ordered my speakers. Went with 4 ohm all the way around. That way if I ever switch to a newer stereo, I'll have matching speakers. Found some 6x9 for the Ford package tray that have the original style grille - that will match the center defog grille in looks nicely. I like the "old school" look of these grilles!
