I think this is a big improvement over stock, this is a Wheelskins custom wrap you stitch yourself. Dimensions are 15.5" x 2.75"if you want to order one. Wheelskins.com
Looks nice! I had @mercgt73 wrap my Sport Wheel and I cannot begin to tell you how nice the wheel feels now, compared to just the old foam. The leather wrap is definitely a nice upgrade to something you will be using 99.9% of all your driving time!
dude that looks like a beast what type of wheel is that the one i had is the original for a 75 comet but its seems plain this looks nice ,love it
He has a factory sport wheel, came in several Fords including trucks. They are out there but there are two different styles. One is set up for a standard horn button and the other for vehicles with the horn button on the turn signal arm.
So what type of cars would i be able to look at that have a wheel that i can add on my 75 comet ,like i said it okay but too plain and i want something like this for a mean look
Thank you for the compliment on the wheel. I got it out of a 79 F-150. I had @mercgt73 recover the wheel in leather and I am very very happy with the results. This modification was well worth the expense, IMHO. Just be sure to make certain the wheel that you get has the rings on the back side of the center for the horn contacts. Like @RMiller said, these wheels were also available in Fords and Mercury's that used the turn signal stalk for a horn and therefore will not have provisions for a conventional horn, like our cars require. There are often wheels on e-Bay, but prices are creeping up for a good wheel. @mercgt73 does have cores available, I believe. You could always go that route and have a perfect wheel when you're done... Rusty's work is top-notch. This is the "before" picture...
I got very lucky when I found mine, a guy had it on Craigslist for $15 and it was in good condition. I will most likely send mine to Rusty to have it wrapped as well.
