Hi, I've had my Maverick for about five years. Just getting ready to start driving it. 1970 Maverick, 170CID, three speed. Mint with black plaid. I'm restoring this car completely stock and having trouble finding stock replacement parts. My father bought a new Maverick when they first came out and then another in 1973. Both of his were three speeds and I learned to drive on the '73 so when the opportunity to buy this '70 came up, I had to get it . It's a solid original car. Chris
Welcome from down '84 over the Hudson River , Your Toploader 3 OTT three speed' and typical 2.79:1 rear gears get that 170 small block six 4 main' cookin' at interstate speeds . I used a '70 Maverick 170 3 spd in a '63 Falcon with a T5 OD adapter plate. Plan on a T5 swap in the 74 Maverick 3 OTT with third pedal for a 5spd Overdrive conversion . '74 Maverick 3OTT has a small block six 250 (with a Vortech Supercharger). have fun . . . .. still have many spare parts from two Maverick six donors ..
I'm in the Hudson Valley region too, in Mahopac. I'm going to drive the car stock for now, but have thought about performance upgrades. You may have some parts I could use--
You may have some parts I could use-- Let me know what you're looking for when you get to it. The big May "Spring Dust-off" Swap Meet and show in Rhinebeck NY always has a good selection of parts, maybe even some for a Maverick ... have fun
You saying welcome back reminded me that besides the two that my father had, I had a yellow 1975 two door in high school. Forgot about that one.
