My 72 Comet Build.....

I got the trans out and on the bench this morning..... Then I cleaned my truck inside and out, leaving early in the am for Biloxi.....

Here it is on the bench.....




It was leaking fluid from the 3 bottom studs in the pump, the fluid was coming up the threads between the nuts and studs.....




At first I couldn't figure out how the fluid was getting to the studs until I looked at a pump gasket today, the holes for the bottom 3 mounting holes all intersect a passage or opening through a notch in the gasket..... I thing I can just change out the studs for bolts and not worry about it, the trans seemed to be working fine other then a small leak..... Here's what I am talking about with the gasket.....

 

Went o the NMRA race on Saturday, but I still managed to fix the trans and get it back in over the weekend..... Then I changed the fuel injectors and opened the throttle blade a little more..... I also got the coolant drained, removed the radiator and fan controller..... I got most of the time delay relay arrangement wired, I would have got it done but I didn't have the correct crimpers for the 56 series terminals at the shop..... I will get them from work and finish that up.....

 

I have been trying to load a video with no success, I am a tech idiot!!!!!

Last Monday evening I got the wiring finished and everything back together..... I got it running again and it seems to be running pretty good.....

I went to the NMCA race on Saturday, but today I cleaned up the shop some and got the stone guard sanded and primed..... I am going to try and get it painted tomorrow.....

 

I got the stone guard painted Friday evening, the weather finally allowed me to get it done.....




Saturday I made the repairs needed on the grill, then put the stone guard, front bumper and all braces on..... I also drill the hood for the dzus fasteners.....







Saturday evening I went back down and cleaned the repairs to the grill, masked and painted it..... I also got the seat belts all bolted in in between coats.....

Sunday I unmasked the grill and install all the stainless strips..... I install the grill in the car, cleaned up and installed front parking/turn light assemblies/braces..... Put the wiring plugs on the sockets for the lights..... Bad thing I discovered a very slight coolant leak at the pass side Moroso AN hose adaptor block, so close to driving it( the coolant was draing when I leaft the shop).....

 

Classy looking grille Frank !! It goes well with the rest of your work on the Comet ! I'd wager you're looking forward to actually 'Driving' this jewel out onto the street ! Nice Job !

Thanks Chip..... Yeah, with all the complications and delays I am ready to start driving this thing.....

 

Congrats on getting that grille back together. Looks great. All that stainless is going to look great with color of your car.

Took the trans out twice last weekend, was still having a small leak issue..... The second time it came out I took it apart to check everything over..... I ordered up a couple pieces I thought would straighten it out.....

Today I got the trans back together and back in..... Finally I think I have cured the leak problem, what a pita..... I also cleaned the rear window/seat area up, vacuumed the carpet and bolted the seats in..... I got the roll bar padding in.....

I did some work on the tune, it seems to idle better and is more throttle responsive then it's been.....

Got to get a few more things done tomorrow and I should be able to start driving it this week.....

 

I did get everything done on Sun so I could drive it..... I have been driving it all week, so far so good.....

Yes Sir!!!!!!

 

Been driving it for a week now with no real issues..... I Change the oil Sat and fixed a little glitch the speedometer had.....

and today I took the trans out of my fathers fox, I'll get the new one back in that next week.....
