New Door Panels Installed

FYI, sorry to hijack your thread! The door panels look amazing and I need some as well...the ones I have are trashed. When I look at them on Melvin's site I don't see holes cut in the panels. Do we have to do that ourselves?

 

The older consoles have the same small cup holders...the newer consoles lave one small and one large cup holder. My cell phone fits in the larger cup holder. I paid $117.97 for my console 3 years ago. Looks like the price dropped since then.

 

Ok thanks...I see the price at $103 and change. Are you utilizing only the felcro to secure it or did you screw it down?

 

Yes it has Velcro attached to the bottom to grab the carpet. I almost pulled the carpet off the floor to remove console to take this pic.

 

The back of the panels have knock-outs that you remove to match what year you are installing them on. They fit all years. You will have to cut the material for the door handle, window crank shaft and arm rest screws.

Looks like you have factory high back buckets as do I...mine are 6 1/2 inches apart at their closest point towards the front of the car. They were mounted using the existing outer mount holes for the original bench seat. The web site says the width of the console is 7 5/8 inches. This sounds like a problem. Can you verify the width of your console? Is it the same width from front to back?

 

Just found this ad for a slimmer console, the type like Jeffs wont fit my car either as I have one in my Falcon just like his and tried it in the Maverick and it wont fit ?

Console is too wide, as like Gene I only have 6 1/2" and even at that the seats are getting crunched together and at 7 5/8" would be really squeezed. I dont understand it because you have the same seats as I do

 

I went and measured mine and got 7-3/8" between the seats at the closest point...between the cup holders and console lid. Maybe this is one of those "Different color car things"

 

74s must be wider than 72s, could just be the foam is more broken in on my seats and lays out flatter

 

Could be the foam. My interior guy added extra foam over the buns to fill out the new seat covers. I do know the seatbelt anchor bolts are in a different location on a 74. Maybe more changed other than that.
