Found the build sheet! Seems like the more info I get, the more questions I have. It appears as though it was originally intended to have red interior to go with the red top, but for some reason, there is a note at the bottom stating to change the trim to 8A. Then someone crossed out what appears to be 9E, and hand wrote 8A. I'm assuming 9E is red interior? Was this a common occurrence at the factory? Does anyone else's build sheet look like this, with manual changes?

I have seen a lot of build sheets(though mostly Fairlane/Torino) but never one that changed the trim... My best guess would be the orig 9E was unavailable... To be changed after build sheet was printed was no doubt a 11th hour move, just about had to happen close to time the build was started... What does warranty sticker indicate, 8A or 9E??

I do know of one aqua '69 Cobra Jet ordered with black interior but came in with blue(blue interior was not supposed to be available with aqua exter)... That car was built on what's believed was last day of '69 production, not much doubt the assembly plant was out of black... I spoke with original owner and have the data plate codes, so I know it's fact...

Sticker shows 8A. I thought that maybe somebody ordered it this way, and needed it right away, so they found something close and changed it. But then I got my deluxe Marti report and realized that it was a stock order, and sat on the lot for four months. I really want to believe that this has something to do with the oddball low back buckets that are in it. They had some prototype seats that never went into production, they wanted to get rid of them, so they decided to put them in the next 5 or so cars, or however many sets there were laying around. So those vehicles got switched to black interior. I know I'm really reaching here, but I think that'd be a pretty cool scenario. There has to be an explanation of the seats, and I think it fits well with this new development :) Going to try to find the original owner, any suggestions?

In spite of the popular " well the factory wanted to use up this or that", really wasn't likely to happen... "Use this trim in the next five cars" absolutely did not happen... What if next car(likely) was a Maverick, or a four dr??Items were sometimes substituted but only if original parts, trim, whatever wasn't going to be available in a reasonable length of time... Otherwise build was rescheduled for a later date...
