here it is. im amazed at the quality of this hood. the metal is so strong and sturdy. the scoops fit very well and may need just a light bit of working to make them perfect, but only a good body man could even see that. it was packed in 2 huge boxes and bubble wrapped. if you have been wondering about this hood, then i say go for it and buy it. heres some pics. havent test fitted yet, but im almost 100% sure itll be perfect. i ordered it from melvins classic ford and the communication from start to finish was perfect.
im thinking rather than paint the inside grill part of the scoop black, i might cut that backing piece out and install a stainless steel wire mesh of the same size and design as the mesh imprint already there. make it real. although if i paint the mesh wire black, that would look good too. going to see if i can find pics first of this idea before i cut into a $150 piece. and on a wild and crazy note, it would be cool to have smoke shoot out the scoops like a dragon breathing when at a red light. lol, smoke machine anyone?
Hi Satchel : Yep ! Same here .. Ordered the hood and scoops from Melvins in May this year and had it painted for the JUNE HRPT . Wrapping was stellar .. found a few spots that needed attention before we painted it to match the rest of the car but our painter is really particular . Fit was good and I get a lot of compliments on the hood. I would also recommend this hood to anyone out there that is considering the Grabber Hood ! Cometized (Chip)
stupid question, but how are others mounting the scoops to the hood? each scoop has 3 drop down pins that go through 3 matching holes in the hood, but they dont have any threads on them. i can put some on and use small nuts i suppose, or better yet use something to glue them down to avoid rattle. i dont ever plan on running without them anyway. thoughts?
ill figure out something at fastenal tomorrow. just wanted to be sure i wasnt overlooking something simple.
No problem. If you ever look at the boomerangs they have the same type of nut that cuts it own thread. Just a different shape.
