Definitely not, that's a project I want nothing to do with..... I do have most the parts here now to get the rear in the Comet done, the last thing will be the axles once I get a housing length finalized..... Yes it's an auto, I have no desire to drive a stick all the time..... It is the only color I would have bought.....
What are you using for a housing? I have the chance to take the 8.8 out of a mark vii and I am tempted to see if it'll be worth while. I need something about an inch wider than a factory 8" rear
I have an Explorer housing that I am using, but I will make it the size I want and use aftermarket axles.....
Hi Frank: I converted two of my Cars to a 5 Speed Overdrive trans for the HRPTs and I got 26 MPG on the Maverick running a 5.0 and the Comet got 22MPG with a 408 Stroker . Cars ran great and shifting was a grin ! Hope you're Buttoned Up for IRMA which is just a couple of days away. I've got all the cars in the Shop along with my Daughter and Son in Law's Business Trailer , a motorcycle , two forklifts and assorted tools . Boarding up the existing windows in the front offices today. It's a Concrete Block Building with Steel Roll Up doors but I'm not going to take any chances . I'm coming to my SHOP before this storm hits and hope we can ' ride it out ' without a Power Failure .. ( Got some generators just in case) .. Hope for Best ... Prepare for the Worst !! Stay Safe Frank and I hope to see you on the forum next week ! .. Cometized (Chip)
Yeah, guys,.... dug in here. Hurricane windows and shutters on the two openings that aren't. Lots of liquor and toilet paper, so we are stocked up. We will have our son and his family here. Our neighbors are pretty well equipped too. One has a whole house generator. A lot of community effort, too. Spent the afternoon boarding up a neighbors house. The new verb in the vocabulary .... " hunkering down". Used that more in the past few days than I ever have. Everybody be safe.
Just waiting to see when it makes the turn at this point..... Hopefully we are all still here after all is said and done.....
We got lucky in our area when the storm went through over by the eastern side of tampa..... We had very little damage anywhere, mostly tree limbs down and a small leak in the roof at the condo..... The shop where I keep my car had no damage at all..... We also never had any power loss at the condo, shop or at work..... So all is pretty well here..... I had some other crap I have had to deal with and am just getting back to the car..... I did a couple things last weekend, and all the parts will be here before Sat so I will get started cutting the new rear this weekend.....
Glad you made through Irma ok, we had some roof damage and lost power for 4 days. The biggest problem was finding gas for the work truck...
Finally got back to it a little last weekend..... My 8.8 housing didn't make it last weekend, but I had most of the other parts..... I went ahead and welded all the joints up on my Calvert Racing spring pearches, I also welded the pearches to a set of 1/2" spacers..... Progress from last weekend.....
Today I checked the new housing over and everything looks good..... So I cut off the old spring pearches and shock mounts and cleaned the tubes up..... I also cut the protective ears for the abs sensor off the top of the housing and cleaned the area up(I will tap the sensor hole and put a pipe plug in it)..... First the housing as I got it and then with the tubes cleaned up.....
Today I got the rest of the housing cleaned up, welded up the old vent fitting hole..... I also got the housing cut to length and ends squared up for the new ends to be welded on..... Here's what it's looking like......
Cleaned the housing inside and out again..... Welded the axle tubes, welded the perches on and got the ends welded on..... Also added a couple tie down brackets to the back of the perches.....
