I am going to be rebuilding my C4 to go behind the FE. Need help identifying the year of the trans as I am sure it is not original to the car. Pic of tag attached. Also who makes a good hi-po kit for the c4. Motor makes mid 500's HP and High 500's TQ. c4 tag.jpg

    Thanks
    Mike

The PEE versions were used in Fairlane, Falcon, Mustang, Maverick etc with 250, 289 & 302 engines... List I have is for years between '67 & '72 but none are the PEE CA8 you have, may be for a different application, or maybe truck ... AFAIK those are pan fill units...

I used a Performance Automatic kit the last few I built. I'd also recommend a hardened input shaft and a good valvebody.

    Thanks for the response.
It's a pan fill, trying to figure out what year kit to order I understand there are two different ones.

I'd use the pre 70 kit. My trans is actually a 66 cruise-o-matic I think there's a difference in one drum and the valvebody. I used a later drum and piston. It's. Been a few years but I know there wasn't much difference. Also I used a p-a billet intermediate servo. What numbers are cast on the case?

I will have to check the case. The fordification site has an identification chart and PEE CA8 decodes as a 1979 granada 302 C4.

AFAIK the main difference is a larger input shaft... That change was made with 1970 models...

I'd forgot about that also. I put a later model pump in mine 20 years ago....

Is the vent on the side or in the top of the case?

Pan fill, vent on top, markings on side 12 78. I guess That answered what it is. Will be ordering the performance automatic pro max rebuild kit and a hardened shaft. May get their vb also. Thanks for the help.
