I noticed a while back that my emergency brake cable is resting under the drive shaft and it is half way eaten through. I don't see how to reroute the cable, surely this isn't how Ford designed this! Are cables still available?

    Thanks!

My parking brake cable runs below the driveshaft but does not even come close to touching it. Your Maverick does not appear to be overly lifted in the rear thus causing an exaggerated driveshaft angle and therefore cable interference?

    Melvin's carries cables.

Here is how it should look. It is not touching the exhaust.

It doesn't appear that Melvin's has the front brake cable for a 73. Anyone know where to find one?

Sorry! It wasn't the Driveshaft that
was rubbing, My brain is getting old! It is rubbing on the duel exhaust under the car. and the cables are 1/4 of the way through. If they snap will the brakes lock up while I am driving?

Also, if you are driving and the rear ebrake cable breaks, you could loose the rod on the arm and the rod on the frame..........not to mention possibility of cable wrapping around something!
