    Hi,

I'm looking for headers to install dual exaust on my Maverick. With a 302 and C4 trans, column transmission shift. AC has been removed and power brake is on.
I read already that Hedmann will fit with no problem but I received an answer from them they told me that they won't fit, with model Hedmann 88300.

And what about Scott Brake C5ZZ-9430-SS?

    Thanks for answers,

    Manu

I run Hooker 6901s with minimal issues. Unfortunately not everyone on this website has had the same luck with installation of those headers. It's my opinion they are still the best longer tube header you can get for out cars.

If you have power steering you will have to install a PS drop bracket which has its own issues. I for one switched from power to manual steering as I wanted the extra horse power and to avoid the issue of the PS drop bracket continuing to work loose.

Thanks. those Hookers looks like a good option. I want to keep power steering.
But is it ok with column shift gear?

    Found that on Summit site:

"If you need a set of headers that will fit your Ford Maverick or Mercury Comet 1972 - 1977 vintage these Hooker 6901s are a great choice. The 6901 set I purchased from Summit Racing fit my 1972 Comet with a 302 and AFR 165 heads. No modification to the headers were required. If you have power steering you will need a power steering lowering bracket. Installation is best achieved by raising the vehicle and installing from the bottom. You may have to remove two bolts to disconnect the idler arm from the sub frame. That is it! No jacking up the engine. It doesn't get much easier". Rick from OH.

That was my review that I wrote for Summit Racing. I have a floor shift, can't answer your question.

I'll double check when I get home but I think I have the same Hooker headers on my '73 302 with column shift and seem to clear just fine. It looks like the previous owner might have modified the shift linkage but I do not know for sure...doesn't look stock though.

I had custom suramic long headers mad. Still had issues with my stearing box being in the way.

You need a drop down bracket. Available online will fix that issue.
