Hey everyone, Glad to have found this forum. I picked up a 1973 Mav a few years ago and have just driven as is since then. Thinking about tinkering with it and thats how I stumbled across this forum. Here are a few things about my car: 1973 2 door 250 6cyl automatic beige interior and exterior Here are a few things that have been done to the car: independent dual exhaust front disc brake knuckles from a 65 mustang adjustable coil over front suspension ported heads mild cam weber carb AC delete (may put back in, i bought it with a non working system so i removed the equipment) Hope to get to know you guys through the forum and looking forward to being part of the Mav/Comet family
Thanks for the welcome. I've seen your name on the top list for the page. Hope to get to know you a little better. It is funny that you mention the bumper tuck, that is something I really want to do and have been thinking about it for a long time...but am not sure how. Is there a forum on here that talks about the process?
Welcome to pour Maverick world on the www. I have always heard that Hawaii cars had a heater delete from the factory. Can you shed any light on that?
Im only 27, but I have grown up around classics my whole life (hence the Mav) I talk to my dad about classic factory cars all the time, and he says it was a very popular option to heater delete from the factory back in the day. All of our classics that we have owned over the years that were originally sold in hawaii all had heater delete. All 12 of them. So yes I would have to say this is a true statement. It is most likely due to the fact that the lowest temp here in the dead of winter is high 50's. This car came from Canada originally so I have the Heater and AC
Delivered to Canada or built in CA? If optioned, no doubt St Thomas would delete heater same as would have Dearborn or KC... Heater delete was was a common for credit option in warm climates... I've seen same listed on Marti reports for other Hawaiian Ford models... Would probably offset cost of AM radio... If you ordered A/C, want it or not you got the heater, it's a integral system... Now days with most if not all localities requiring a defroster/defogger, I doubt such a choice is available... BTW welcome...
