There is a 1962 falcon in my local P&P. It has spring perches with clips on the ends and look like bronze bushed perches that I have found pictures of. There is a plug in the bottom where I think the zerk should be.....so they never got grease???? The junkyard gods are stingy with these things around here, so I want to get them, but will they be useable without being greased on some kind of interval? They dont look thrashed.

I would say go for it betting that they will be okay, hope you have a good spring compressor though. Falcons did come with brass bushed spring perches from the factory until 63 I believe

I believe Ford first went with sealed tie rods, ball joints etc in '64(my '64 Ford had them)... Those had no grease fitting installed and were supposed to be greased at three year or 36K mi intervals... Of course most shops installed the zerkes and blasted away, blowing the boots...

Whether this has a bearing on the '64 Falcon, Fairlane etc switching to rubber spring mounts I dunno... History proved the rubber satisfactory...

All the ones I saw with a plug were trash except one set. You can feel if it wiggles one you get the spring off the seat.

Having driven cars with this suspension since the '60s, I still don't believe it...

I've been driving them just as long. Made a noticeable difference on my car when I installed roller bearing spring perches. The only reason Ford went from lubricated metal bushings to rubber was to save money.

Also, driving these cars since 60's' I would not go back to rubber. I gave the one's on my car away to a friend, only had about 5000 miles. Rubber works, rollers work a lot better ... IMO.

Ditto too on the roller perches, only been driving these cars since 70"s:LOL:.........
I maybe late in reply, but for all the time/trouble it is worth to remove old perches, be it bronze (yes, they probably can be rebuilt), still over 50 year old part, better off just purchasing new, modern rollers and be done with it, IMO.
I have had these for over 5 years and have passed on this info to other members, who have purchased rollers and never looked back.......
