I ordered a vinyl top from Auto Krafters and it was made of three pieces. Had two seams down the length of it.
I'm almost certain that my car still has the original vinyl top and it is just one piece, no seams. I sent it back not just because of the seams but also the color was not quite right, it was kind of an off-white instead of the bright white.
Does anyone know which is actually the correct factory top design?, seams or seamless?
I found a shop that said he can get the original Ford material wide enough to make it one piece.

I could easily be mistaken but I don't ever recall seeing a 1 piece top for any Fords. My Comets red top is a seamed 3 piece as well.

And keep in mind that "white" is a relative term. Back in the day you rarely ever saw very bright whites and most Ford white's were a little creamy or dingy looking in comparison to some other OEM's. Might be time to go custom if you want something non-OEM. SMS has samples if you want to know exactly what material was used and what they have to offer in their kits.

I wonder if by '74 they went to one piece. When I removed my halo molding prior to taking the car in for a repaint it looked like it had never been removed before. It was only a two owner car with 40k when I got it so I don't think it is an aftermarket top, but could be wrong.

Oops, my bad. I see that now. The '74 model year makes it obvious on the reread.

At least I didn't get the 2nd part wrong. And actually, I did say I could easily be wrong so that's still a 66% right to wrong ratio.. and I can live with that. :D
