Hello, Hey everybody, just got a new to me 1973 Maverick in great shape. This will be a family project. So far it looks like my father and my daughters will be joining me in building this car. thanks for allowing me to join, I look forward to participating and learning from the wealth of knowledge provided in the many pages of this forum. I'm down near Tallahassee Fl. hope the pictures aren't to big.
thank you, I look forward to building this car. I am currently torn between the 351w or a 302. not my first experience with engines or body work lol. (own a jeep also and always fixing that) I grew up with classical cars. I was assisting my father with a 54 belair 2dr hardtop that he purchased for 35$ when he got back from Vietnam. My brother has decided to have that car finished by a shop though so we purchased this car to build together. only needs a little body work that we have found so far. my daughters 7 & 8 love working with me in the shop. Currently they just act as tool gofers lol, but they really enjoy seeing how everything is put together, and how it all works together.
Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio!!! I would suggest staying with the 302 based engine unless you are prepared to deal with the wider 351W issues in our cars. I have installed and run both.
Thank you! Yes I have read about the width issues and I am leaning more towards the 302 because of that. Btw, I love Ohio! Beautiful country up there.
from Northeast Pennsylvania - I will be in Florida in September again and I always go to the car shows at Old Town in Kissimmee when I'm there and have seen quite a few Maverick/Comets there
Old Town does a great job with that show .. always a crowded venue .. got to get there ' early ' if you want a parking spot among the other cars . Next time you're in Florida ... lemmeno Frank . We have local car shows every FRIDAY nite here in Deland, Florida area . Not too far from Kissimmee , FL Cometized (Chip)
