Anything I can do to have brighter ones? My wife almost hit me when I was turning off and she swears she didnt see them? I think she just wasnt paying attention as she also ran up on me when I slowed for railroad track crossing before.

Either way...what's a plug and play option? Thanks!

You'll get 19 recommendations for LED, but lenses become less transparent with age and the reflectors also dull.

Polishing lense inside and out, plus using reflective paint inside housings improves light output by 100 to 500%. There is paint marketed for such and I used metal tape inside my Fairlane housings.

Paint the inside of your taillight housings with FLAT WHITE PAINT .. not Silver .. It reflects well and is highly visible It will make a dramatic difference .. Brighter bulbs while you're at it ..

    LED recommendation #1
After the police pulled us over in the Comet for no brake lights or turn signals, I started looking around for something better. Paint can make a huge difference both in the tail lights and instrument cluster. However I wanted something more. With the Comet, we converted the reverse light to another tail light and added these red led bulbs.

How old are the bulbs that are in there now? They get dimmer with age. New 1157 bulbs and painting the inside housing white as suggested earlier should do the trick. LEDs just look stupid. I love them for many other things (gauges, instrument cluster, side marker lights, dome light), just not tail lights.

Just an FYI some LEDs won't fit under the lenses. I wasted a couple hundred on some that won't....be careful.

I bought a set of Digi-Tails LED taillights. The only thing with them is that they are modeled after 1970 lenses, which do not have two extra indents that the 71-77 lenses have. Luckily, I had a set of 1970 lenses and it worked out. You can select either normal or sequential. My kit came with an electronic flasher and I purchased a second electronic flasher for the hazard lights. Watch the polarity of the switches, I had to switch the wires inside the connectors by releasing the clips and swapping contacts on harness.
