So I did a little looking around(google) because I too am curious about a set of 3 point belts. It seems the SD is around a lot on the vintage mustang forums always chiming in with what seems to me great customer service, whether it be for replacement parts or the talking about how their packaging makes the belts look like a different cover. Doh! I haven't seen anything safety related yet, but I have to assume they're up to spec as should be and are only as good as the cars weakest link as in rusty bolts/floors. Or incorrect mounting positions with not enough bracing. I think for $200 it seems to be a good purchase as long as it's installed correctly.

Bad thing on this - they hit you $15 for shipping. But, I did find a Mustang parts place - Stang-Aholics, has it for $188.93 and offers free shipping at $200. So I added on a few brake parts I needed anyway to get my total to $202.00 and take the free shipping! Also found Summit has them at $199 with free shipping. I was hoping someone on the board tried these out already, but I see no reason they should not bolt in similar to the Mustang conversion. Will let you know how they work out in my '72 to replace the old 2 piece belts.

Will be installing probably in July or early August. Will see how it all fits then. Seems to be a real nice product.
From the picture, it looks like the lower mount and the retracter require two bolt holes. Is that correct? .... or is that bracket on the belt some kind of spacer to get the belt away from the retracter when using just the one existing bolt hole?
I'm thinking the long bracket is to get the belt away from the retractor and use just the 1 bolt hole. They don't come with any directions. Will know more once I go to install. Maybe there is a youtube on these someplace?
In order to get compliance in Australia we must install 3point retractable belts, the lower mounts bolt in the 1 bolt position, and if you feel along the inner roof pillar, you will feel factory mounting holes already threaded. You just have to carefully slice a hole into your headlining and install(we use a different thread pitch and have to re-tap). This walked beautifully on both my 73Maverick and 71 Comet. A "drop loop" style seems to be more comfortable over the shoulder.
Aussie, These cars came with a shoulder belt here, but it was an odd arrangement ... manual lap belt and a shoulder belt that clipped into it. It sounds like the cars you got had the shoulder belt deleted and then a new headliner installed. Getting rid of the shoulder belt was common ... it was stored above the door by way of an elastic strap. If you are tall, you frequently got beaned in the head by the belt when getting in or out, especially as the elastic got old. I was happy that they don't look too modern.
I know - I know - old thread but I thought I would update this with my thoughts on driving with these seat belts. I think it should be one of the "must have" updates when rebuilding the early cars that had the fixed 2 piece belts. Unless you are going 100% original - I put this right up there with running radial instead of bias tires. I'm 6'2" and run the seat pretty far back. And I find the belts effortless to use and very comfortable while driving. The only negative is access to the rear seat is a bit obstructed by the belt but that is not really an issue worthy of deciding not to install these. I give this upgrade a full 2 thumbs up ………..
