You can actually use either style, but the pic you posted look to be the early rounded corners style.

Could you or someone else who's "in the know" elaborate a bit more? What years look like what in comparison to each other? Anyone have pics of both?

I have a 71 GT with boomerangs and stainless drip rail moldings that look identical to Mr Mcdaniels. Will these repops be absolutely identical in design and OEM fitment?

It all depends on whether you have the stainless trim that goes on top of the door and quarter window. If you have the trim the boomerangs were more square. If you don’t have the trim they are more rounded. That was the difference between the two. The ones that are reproduced are the more square ones. Honestly unless you really know the difference in the two you would never know.

    Hey Chip,
The originals butted up against the trim. I have never seen any that slide under the trim. Do you have a picture of this step?

I have seen several Mavericks and Comets that have the squared corner (repop type) and ask the owner of the car if they knew that they were not correct and most had no idea that they had were not correct. It may have been one of those Ford things were they ran out of the correct boomerangs and just put the ones they had on the car. No big deal unless you are a purist and have to have what it should have

So why did they decide to repop the square ones? Were more cars made that use that style?

They screwed up, far more cars that use the rounded corners type. But this style will work with either so if they knew the difference they probably figured they would sell more this way

Thanks for the follow up guys. Was going to help support the aftermarket by purchasing these but mine aren't terrible condition and I like my cars original rounded corner design better anyways.

Not too difficult to find a place to rechrome these. It can be expensive...but not difficult. Make sure you find a place that rechromes "pot metal".

Here is what the square corner boomerang look like on a Maverick without the rest of the chrome trim.

Everything is fine here, Haven't touched the Comet in a while. The motivation I ordered is on backorder.
