Throwing some Grabber parts on my 71, it’s mirror time. The adjusting mechanism off the parts car for the driver’s side mirror I have is broken, I’d either have to find new cables, or just buy a new sports mirror for the mechanism. So I have two questions... 1. Is there any way to convert the driver’s side mirror to manual adjust like the passenger? Not above doing a little fabrication to avoid drilling a hole in my door panel. Failing that, 2. Is there any place that sells JUST the adjusting mechanism for the driver mirror (without the mirror head and base?) I’m feeling like having to buy a whole mirror kinda drives up the price a bit. If not, it’s just more money and more spare parts for the bin, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask. Thanks y’all! -Scott
You also have the option of cutting the cables at the base of the mirror and then adjusting mirror manually.
Once the cables are cut, the swivel mechanism is pretty much free to "float" around, maintaining a fixed adjustment is all but impossible.
My cable was broke, just used 2 part epoxy to hold the mirror in place , good for me but now non adjustable ( but I’m the only driver so it was ok for me ) cheapest fix , been over a year and still holding.
