    Hey all,
I am going to the Mecum Auction today. It is the second to last day, it has been running for a full week already. They move something like 3000 cars through here in 10 days. This is the weekend when the really high-dollar cars cross the block. Probably no Mavericks or Comets go for auction today, but a buddy called to tell me on Wednesday a 1973 Comet went unsold at $14K.

I ought to have some good pics to share.

That Comet was for sale here in VA a couple of years ago by an individual. They were asking $8K for it.

I tried to get my buddy to go buy it, but he didn't like the brown color.

I thought it was a very nice car for the price. It looked just like it does in the Mecum pictures.

Should have bought it -- Seems to be good buy at that price! The Maverick w/ the vinyl roof and AC would have been what I prefer.

That was my 73 comet, it was my daily driver. I sold it about 2 years ago. I had just painted it and rebuilt the top end.

The prices of these cars have been on a steady rise for a few years now and I believe they will continue at least into the near future. Just seeing this many on Mecum in one auction tells me more and more people are taking notice. I mean heck, even a 74 Pinto went for 18,000!! That’s unheard of. All I’m saying is take care of your cars, especially if you have a nice rust free one. Ten years ago a few people from this mmb laughed at me when I used investment and Maverick in the same sentence. Well, I’m still investing in them and have made quite a bit of money over the years playing with the cars I love so much. I’ve now owned upwards of 40 Mavericks/Comets and will keep buying and selling them. I’ll have a Coyote Maverick on the road in a few months if time permits. I’ve been wanting to build one for about 5 years now. Well, it’s on the way. I haven’t been on the mmb in a while but my Maverick life is still going strong. I’ll try to keep you guys posted as I get a little closer.
    Take care of those Mavericks!!
