I will start by saying I am really, really ignorant about cars. Someone gave me this 1969 Ford Maverick about 8 years ago. It ran well at the time. Brakes a little iffy, and the shifter tree (?) a bit loose. Body in good shape, paint oxidized. Interior not great but okay-ish. We put it out in our yard, and it has been covered since then. My plan was to fix it up some day (sound familiar?) Reality is, "some day" is never going to come My spouse has suddenly decided it has to go. Soon. My question... how can I figure out how much to sell it for? I am in San Diego. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
C'mon. Don't be mean. I am a girl who, by my own admission, is totally ignorant about cars. I appreciate the suggestion that pictures would go a long way toward helping y'all answer my question. I don't know what a "fishing car" is, but it doesn't seem to be very helpful or encouraging. To the others that answered.. I really appreciate your help and constructive suggestions. Pictures to follow
I'm not trying to be mean, it's just that the Maverick world is cruel. do you remember what you payed for it...$0. I'm saying it's worth at least 3-4 times that.... example: my 73 was a running driving car and I gave $50 for it.
That's Frank's car that he paid $50. Probably worth 5x that now. There was no five lug till the '71 with v8, 6cyl were still four lug. In '73 all were five.
With out pictures there is no way to give an accurate price on the car or even an estimate. You said the car sat out in the yard for 8 years "covered" is that with a tarp, under cover, under a tree, etc... Just because the body was in good shape then doesn't mean that it is in good shape now. It is likely a 6 cylinder motor unless it was changed and after sitting for eight years it will take ALOT of work to getting it on the road again. There are a lot of factors that you have to consider. Is the cowl rotted, how are the quarters, the floors, the torque boxes, the battery tray, the hood, etc... You said the interior is "okay-ish" what does that mean? Are the seat completely ripped up or are they just faded? As it sits right now sight unseen it is a $300 car. These guys aren't trying to be mean, just realistic. It is VERY hard to help without better information. Get a lot of pictures of everything and then we can give you a realistic price. Also there is no "69" maverick, there is a early maverick called a 69 1/2 which has key in the dash but it is titled as a 70 maverick. Then you have the later 70 which has the key in the column.
It’s just as nice as a Camaro or Chrysler of the same quality in that price range . I believe the price for Mavericks or comets will continue to grow , good and bad I guess.
