Points are so simple the average 3rd grader could repair them.

Possibly it has a bad condenser.

Does voltage on dist side of coil drop to zero when points are closed? Does it read battery voltage when open? If answer to either one of these questions is no, find out why.

Sorry man, I said it wrong, I don’t have a points, I mean distributor contacts, looks like I have duraspark ignition, anyway don’t know is it duraspark one or 2, found a wiring for it on https://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html/ and next week will try to make simple wiring to found out what’s wrong. I am originally motorcycle mechanic, so more or less till 3 grade I come:lolup:

Ahhh, you can bypass Grade 3, go straight to 4th. ;)

For '76 it'll be Duraspark I. AFAIK, Duraspark II is basically a large dist cap & hotter coil.
Duraspark modules can fail and give a spark when switched on/off, but nothing while cranking. Of course a wiring problem between dist and mobile, or a bad pickup inside dist can cause same.

Yuhuuu, have spark, but still don’t start. Looking for firing order diagram now, looks like previous owner messed up dist cables

A low compression 250 should crank fine on battery of 650-800 CCA. If not the starter is probably tired.

Finally it starts, there are many cracked vacuum lines so I just cancelled them on carb, good carb cleaning and it runs. After couple min of idling I tried to put gear and it started coming smoke from transmission, smell was like coolant liquid, so next plan is to take out transmission and rebuild it. Is it easier take out engine with transmission or separate?

I've never attempted to pull an automatic transmission and engine together in one of these cars. The engine compartment is quite small. If you only plan to work on the transmission, pull the transmission separately.

Hi, I want to take out engine for cleaning and minor rebuild also. But I think it will be easier by separate.

I agree. I would pull the engine first.
