Hi all, I'm wondering if any members have used other bumpers (with or without some modification) that look decent on our cars. Current car is a 75 Comet that someone cut the ends off the original big bumper and then cut down mounts so it's recessed. Looks terrible imo. Recently came across a maverick for sale near me with "small bumpers" but the front does not look like any bumper ever put on a maverick that I've seen. Not to mention comet bumpers probably even more (or include cost of maverick hood and grill in cost). As much as I would love to do a small bumper swap, it's just not feasible given that finding and rechroming small bumpers appear to cost more than what I paid for the car to begin with. White car is unknown bumper on a Maverick.
this is a 74 front bumper tuck...we just move the bolts back one set of holes. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/that-ugly-74-comet-front-bumper.108248/#post-1092093
Frank, I wish the person that mutilated the current bumper would have seen that post. It still presents the issue of finding a used bumper and the plastic filler panel (rock guard?). Not sure what the going rates for bumpers are supposed to be but everything I've seen has been $300 plus shipped not in great condition. I wish someone would just make repros for a decent price. Thats why im kinda wondering if anyone has come up with a bumper that almost fits great like the one from my first post. A brand new bumper for around $100 (Camaro, mustang, etc) that needs a little adaption work seems more enticing than what I've seen for $250-300 plus rechroming and filler panels .
Someone thought that was a improvement!! I have the BIG bumper (no filler panel) & brackets from my 75 Comet, if you pay shipping from Michigan you can have them.
The Mustang bumper looks as though it could be made to work. The one in the pic isn't on straight, and the fenders might have to be notched to match...but it's all in the details. I think the center of the grill is 1967 Camaro.
