    going on.
I guess it's my Ghost messing with me again.
first....when I put the new fuel line on my in tank pump I drained the tank first (drain plug in bottom of tank). when I got the hose changed I installed my new fuel regulator. went to check for leaks and when I turned the pump on it came up to 44 PSI (was 58-63), I was looking for 42-45 so that looked good. no leaks so I thought I would take it for a spin. when I reached for the door handle I realized I hadn't put any gas back in the tank. question is...how did it have 44 lbs. of pressure with no gas?

Air pressure from pump forcing gas that was in the line downstream from the fuel pump ?

    second strange thing...
after putting 5 gals. of gas in the tank I fired it up. I let it run 4-5 minutes then reached in and shut it off...I thought. all the gauges went off but the engine kept running...:sour: switched it to the on position and no dash lights. went to start side and no starter.
I went to the back and flipped the kill switch ...kept on running (no headlights, dash lights or horn) ...:yup: went up front and pulled the key, opened the trunk and pulled the fuel pump fuse...it died. I got my test light (probe type) and tested the fuse holder, it was hot on one side. the Atomic EFI controls the pump relay. the pump 12V comes from the off side of the kill switch.
I flipped the switch on/off again then there was no power to the pump relay...
no power to Atomic EFI, no power to fuel pump...car running...:bouncy:
put the fuse back in, flipped the kill switch back on and fired it up. let it run for another 4-5 minutes, shut it off ...fired it up and all was fine.
    took it for...:drive:...:chirp:
note...I didn't throw the kill switch again to see if it would kill it so may do that today.

it's been haunted from the first day we started building our house (21 yrs. ago), started when the Guy was digging the footer for the foundation. he busted a hose on his backhoe when scooping the first bucket of dirt. strange think, he said he had replaced that hose with a new one the day before he came to the job site...

I think your engine has the wrong DNA structure.

That's why we're trained as technicians to verify the pressure is fuel and not air. I've seen it happen several times.

got it so it will crank with the key...:bouncy:

pulled the fuses from the E-fuel pump...E-waterpump and disconnected the alt. it still won't cut off with the key...shuts right off with the kill switch (no delay).
put a test light on the switched on side of the ign. switch and just turning it on and off it takes 2 seconds for the power to drop off... new switch.
    any ideas?

I had that problem with an MSD box, out of the blue it just wouldn't shut off. Worked fine for the longest time them boom, mind of it's own.

When the power drops of in 2 seconds, are you measuring power from the switch or somewhere downstream? I could see a relay or solenoid that wasnt working properly taking 2 seconds for an electromagnet to discharge before opening a circuit back up, but a switch without such should close and open immediately? Hmmmmmm. When all else fails, or firstly if your car is crusty like mine, make sure all your grounds are good....especially on any relays or solenoids.

Just move the bump button & kill switch to dash, problem solved. :tiphat:

With electric fan(wired direct to switch) and electronic ignition my Comet was "slow" to cut off. Once I wired in a fan controller problem was gone.

    I moved this here...
I thought of the move but too race carish for me.
    I have a fan controller.

    thanks...
the MSD box was the first thing I replaced ($400), check wiring was 2nd and ignition switch was 3rd.
I can flip the kill switch and it dies, no delay. seems like it's a bleed over with the ignition switch.
I will measure the voltage during this delay.
...I had not changed anything and it started cranking with the key ...:slap:
like I have mentioned before...I have a Ghost around my house...I could walk out to the shop this morning and the car work just fine, it's done it before...:yup:
I have called MSD tech before with a problem and describe the symptoms and was told..."Sir, it can't do that it's not wired for that to be possible." walk out to the shop and it not do it again...

    morning recap...
no voltage drop in the 2 second delay.
no delay when turned off with kill switch.
turn key off, dash lights turn off...no delay.
...turn key off, motor continues to run...only dies with kill switch.
with the motor running...key off...still power to switched on at key .
flip kill switch (kill engine) turn kill switch back to on...key still off...no power to on at key.

I bought two ignition switches the other day at Summit. don't know what that will do because this started with the switch that was in it.
I may put the other one in just for... S&Gs.

as the saying goes..."if it has tits or wheels, sooner or later its going to give you problems".
