I was wondering if anyone could decode the build code for me on this car? The exterior color is now silver, but it has some areas which are white. Im thinking white may actually be the original color. Im wondering what other options it had from factory (rear end, etc).

Actually code 3 is 2:79, 6 is for 3:00... BUT that's from a '74 manual I may be incorrect. BUT(again) that's the codes used in '72 for My Comet & back in '69 for Fairlane(it has 2:79 gear).

The 9 is no doubt white, but I dunno what shade. Ford was notorious for offering a creamy white, refrigerator white, etc(no that's not their paint descriptions).

Trans is C4(W) & was sold in Omaha district(54)

Yeah, the code tells what it is. I just assumed all 6-cylinders got the 3.00 gear. I know the non-A/C V-8 cars got 2.79s and the A/C V-8 cars got 3.00s.

I also think the 4 door cars look better w/ the large bumpers. Depending on your modification skills, changing those bumpers might be a challenge. If not done correctly will detract from the looks/appearance of that nice car.
