Hello all, I have a 1972 maverick with an 200 i6, c4 trans. I recently purchased a 302 roller block and plan on making it a 347 stroker. I've been researching and pricing out parts. Looking to get a scat 347 rotating assembly kit, a set of aluminum heads (not sure what kind yet if any of you have any recommendations please let me know) and other performance oriented engine components. Just want a fast street car nothing too crazy. Now some questions I have so far in my research are; what oil pan will fit in the car with a main girdle? I want to make it efi so what's the best junkyard donor car to pull the lower and upper intake, wiring harness, and ecu out of? And is there an auto trans with overdrive that could hold up to say 400 hp and will fit relatively pain free? If not is there a way to beef up a t5 the handle that much? These are just preliminary questions I have before I even buy anything, if anything I said doesnt make sense or match up I apologize and please let me know. Thank you for your support. -Joe
For a stock intake I would get one from an Explorer. For the ecu/wiring try to find fox body Mustang stuff. At one point Summit offered a complete kit but I haven't seen it in the catalog lately. AFR seems to be the favored head but there are loads of options and opinions on the subject.
Holley just came out with their terminator x efi kit for the small block ford. I’ve been following all the LS guys using it and it seems like a bad ass set up so I ordered it. Seems to be a good priced kit especially if you find someone who’s a Holley dealer. I originally was going to do the factory efi stuff but was worried about being limited for the power I was trying to make. Also as far as the main girdle. I have the Moroso girdle on my 331 with the assault racing 7 qt oil pan. Have had good luck with it.
Interesting, I have been looking at the one for an LS thinking there has to be a way to make it work on a ford. It just needed the right inputs but I guess it doesn't matter now!
Yeah I was thinking same to be honest. It was a wise decision on Holley to do this. Gunna sell like crazy.
