ok well it seems I have found the easy no fancy new parts way to do this swap 25 years ago , all I see is people talking about using special bellhousings , or converting to a cable clutch , or some kind of hyd clutch set up , I did the swap by using nothing more than the complete trans and bellhousing from a 1990 mustang gt , my clutch is 100% still manual linkage , and yes my clutch fork has to be pushed to the front of the car 100% backwards of the original setup in the comet , it is so easy to remedy this issue , I patented the fix also , but if someone is looking to do the swap on a budget , and has a saw , drill , and some scrap setting around , I will give you the idea of how to do it for free , being I have never mass produced this set up and offered it for sale , this will be if you PM me , and ask nicely , it is not hard to do or build , the only hard part is adjustment , you have to think about it , and field test your adjustments in the setup , there is no set adjustment parameters due to different setups among the donor transmissions , clutch selection , wear in your factory linkage ect , it can make a huge difference , but all in all it is not hard , like I said being I have never seen anyone ever go about this the way I have done it several times , and the fact it is easy , almost free , and it works great , I am willing to help you get the swap done , I am also curious to see what you build based on my idea , seeing you get it done , and seeing how you built it is my payment , so I guess the couple pics you might send me could be considered payment , so we will say the bit of battery power , and your time to take them , ok it will cost you 33.3 cents ;)

since we have been working on this car restoring it , everyone has been so amazed by it , and all say they have never seen such a thing , so I did some digging , it looks like I am the only one to ever do it any way shape or form LOL so I thought I would share it ...

if you have a stick shift maverick already its simple to do the swap. you just need to take the t5 bellhousing and put the clutch fork pivot from the 3 speed maverick into the t5 bellhousing. it will need some adjustment to get the geometry correct but its simple and effective.

A one inch thick spacer placed one inch from the fork opening is all that is needed. I used a McLeod Clutch Fork...part number 16934 or you can use Ford part number C8oz7515A

I just bought a '73 Maverick with the 6-cyc motor and an automatic tranny. I really want to swap out the motor with a V8 but donor parts seem hard to come by. What are your thoughts on an automatic?

I'm using an old bell and the mechanical linkage. Just had to buy an adaptor to mate the T5 to the bell.

That's a pretty ingenious solution, I like it.

That clutch fork is for an older truck or car (pre-60).
