Hey fellas. My name is Joe and I'm from down in the Texas Coastal Bend. I'm here for a couple of reasons. Before I get into those I've got to tell you all that I don't own a Ford Maverick or Mercury Comet but I do have a VERY strong interest in them. I HAVE owned several Mustangs (three 1967 Coupes and one 1989 5.0 LX coupe) and went through each one to produce good street rides out of them all. With that being said, 1.) I can definitely comment or help out with info as well as find out more information along the way and 2.) while I don't build 1:1 scale rides any more I do build in 1/25 scale. I'm currently building a 1970 Maverick in scale and am looking for various reference material to get as close as I can (with a few liberties taken here and there) to the real thing. I don't build crap in the real world or in scale so I'd be happy to share the build progress of what I have with the forum. With all that ….I'm looking forward to hangin' out here and getting to know you. Thanks for having me on board, Joe
Welcome from Portland, OR. Good to have you here. I cant help with a 1/25 build unless it is a slot car. There is a fair amount of private 1/24 slot car tracks in Oregon where we build cars using plastic model kit bodies and hand built brass and wire chassis. Bunch of old guys and their toy race cars, lol.
Thanks Everett and Stuart! I build a lot of 1/25 scale stuff. I've been doing it for around 39 years so I guess I've gotten alright at it. After building 4 cars and now this truck of mine I find it a lot more affordable to build scale autos with my imagination. lol. I do things in scale that I could never afford in real life. For instance. I've got a STRONG love for the mid 50's F-100 trucks. So....I took a kit(or kits) and modified it to my tastes. This one took me around 6 months to build. Gets 1st place at every model show I take it to.
Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio. Very nice work on the Ford Fatty, great detail! Who did the photography?
That truck is awesome! If we had a class with trucks in it, that would be an easy concourse win.....of course to win a concourse, you have to enter a race and swap paint the rest of the day. I couldnt beat up something that meticulously built, nope. My cars get paint, decals, numbers, clear coat, then get thrashed.
