I have a 1976 Maverick straight 6 250, it ran fine 3 days ago. It cranks like a champion but won't start up. Tests show no spark at the distributor or the ignition coil. I just replaced the ignition coil and battery today. I don't see any obvious wiring issues. The starter solenoid and regulator have both been replaced a couple years ago, but is there tests for those? Any thoughts? Thanks gentlemen!
Back in day 9 in 10 that problems in ignition were due to module failure. Whack it a few licks with a screwdriver handle, probably 50% of time they'd work again, but only for a short while.
Screwdriver did the trick! Started immediately. I'll replace that tomorrow I suppose. Thanks a lot, you guys are awesome!
Last two I remember as intermittent was on a '79 half motor Stang & 302 Monarch(Stang became my younger daughter's first car). Had both approx same time. Could whack the Stang module and it'd run, the Monarch would leave you setting till it decided was time to go again.
