I recently bought a 1970 2D Ford Maverick. The exterior was in great shape. But the interior needed some work. That's what brought me here. The rear interior quarter panels have started to crumble and crack. I could use some tips on how to handle this. I've been looking on trying to find replacements but it seems almost impossible. Is there anyway I can repair it and make it look good? This is something that will be visible. It is crumbling at the top near where the small window would be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
... replacement is the best option. repairing them is almost impossible. once the plastic starts crumbling. some have covered them with upholstery... run an add in the ...parts wanted section...and see what shows up. Frank
To make matters worse 70 and 71 are the only years that will fit correctly due to the seatbelts in newer years come through those panels instead of under the seat and contour is different

I did see one person who used like, flex-seal type paint to redo some DESTROYED panels. Looked decent for what it was.
I seem to remember someone did a post on repair & painting of the panels. Use the search function, maybe you can find it.

There were 3 styles of the rear interior quarters, 70-71, 72-73, and 74-77. I am pretty sure looking at the photo's, those marketed by Delta Bay Mustangs are the 74-77 style.
In 73 the seat belt retractor was behind the panel and beside the rear seat bottom. In 74 the retractor for the 3 point seat belt was moved inside the rocker panel on the interior side and a wider bulge was made in the panel to assist in covering the seat belt mechanism/assembly.
