Anyone know if there is someone who makes a separate 2 piece Front Hub and Rotor (11") for our Mav/Comets OEM drum or disc spindles? I know one who offers kit using 10" rotors and Wilwood has kits for 11" and larger, but just want to know if there is someone else, thanks! David
Yes, Scarebird Classic Brakes sells an all OEM-based system which works on Maverick drum brake spindles. To do so you have to turn down the outside of your original hub slightly, which can be done shade tree style with a grinder or more appropriately with a brake drum lathe. The rotors aren't enormous at 10", but it works with stock ford 14" wheels and doesn't require you to source scarce parts like Granada or 60's Ford disk brake spindles. I did look at Scarebird and what they offered, there was another fellow MGCHEVYPARTS that offered similar set up, could even be from Scarebird.........I messaged them if they had any set up with larger 11" rotors, but they only have above mentioned 10" Toyota Previa....... Now that I know that our Drum Hubs can be removed, I might take some measurements to see if our Mav/Comet 11" rotors can be machined/modified to fit over the Drum Hubs. Another project to look into! I recently finished "rollerizing" an auto brake pedal, this came up in conversation with Frank (71gold), when he was lengthening his brake pedal for greater ratio...... David

I remember reading that a couple of years ago, might look more into that, since the Crown Vic rotors fit perfectly and he mentioned how the Drum/Rotors where same thickness.........maybe I'll see if I can pick up one at local junk yard to play around with.......it would be interesting to see how this combination would line with Disc Brake spindle/caliper mounting location. This is a 2005 Ranger 4x4 knuckle assembly with 11.97ā rotor & dual piston caliper on my Torq Thrust 15x7 wheel. It fit great with no rubbing, working on mocking up brackets for the Comet spindle.

I like that setup with the 12" disks. The bigger diameter would look better behind 17" wheels with big windows where the brakes are more visible. They'd also offer more braking torque and less fade, of course.
Why not just install the 65/66 4 piston set up on your car, bolts right on to drum spindles. You do have to change the races in the rotors and it is a one piece rotor but that doesn't make any difference.
This is another one of my "what if projects", having 2 separate piece Hub and Rotor, just like most modern cars, easier to do brake work when necessary........other than 69.5/70 (early) Mavericks, wheel bearings are the same on both Drum and Disc, so I am trying to figure out if it is possible to find a rotor (11" min), that can be used in combination with our Drum Brake Hub/Disc Brake Spindle/Caliper....... Yes, I know about all other set ups, between my brother and cousin, we've had 66 GT/K car, Shelby's and Austin Healey with HP289, Toploader 4sp and narrowed 9 inch, that was my cousins project, remember that thing would nearly tear your head off, think I was around 10 years old, late 60's, good old days David
Hi David, hope all is well! Interested in knowing how roller brake setup works out, if/when you have car operational? I have a spacer about .187" between firewall and mc. lower the pedal -- it was there when I got the car. I need to replace the mc, leaking around the cover, can't seem to fix, even w/ new cover. I've never seen another Mav/Comet w/ the spacer; has to be something a previous owner did. I also inquired about Frank's setup and he PM'd some details. I'm interested in how his setup works -- not saying I going to change, but, like what he did...
