So many times they have repurposed a name. The Ranger used to be a model in the F series line up and the Fairlane was once in the full size line. They also tagged the low line of the Torino as a Falcon as well as the Model T Runabout being recycled on the Pinto. I think a Maverick truck is way less offensive than a Mustang SUV!

on the way to fl. Friday Effie and I stopped at a Ford dealership in south Ga. and they had a Maverick truck on the lot. saleslady said this was the second one they've had, sold the first one.
it was dressed out pretty heavy for...$30,000. the interior looked like it wasn't completely installed. mostly the front door panels, they looked like half of them were missing.
coming back Sunday it was still there so no-one waiting on one bought it.
I will look at a few more before I pull the trigger on one.

Did you drive it? Sounds like you were looking at XLT trim?

Reviews I saw make it sound like the interior is roomier than the Ranger, and that has me rethinking these a bit. I'm 6 foot tall and the Ranger seems a little tight in the shoulders on me. If there is more shoulder room in the Maverick, it may score points there.
I am actually wanted to see that Maverick in hybrid form and compare the two. The torque rating seems low, but if it has all that from a dead start, might be OK , just REALLY different. Trying to keep an open mind. I saw a hybrid listed in XLT trim but it isn't at the dealer yet. Other info seemed to say it would only be in base XL trim.

Another thing that is intriguing me is that there is a company called Worksport that makes tonneau covers.
They are coming out with this system next ...
    https://worksport.com/terravis/

It is a bed cover with solar panels built in. Put on a hybrid vehicle, they are claiming it can add 20 miles of range per day. Depending on your usage, you may never need to plug the vehicle in. If used with a regular gas pickup, it had a module in the bed that you can use to power jobsite portable tools, lights, tailgate at football games ...

I can't tell you how many times I've given people that same advice. The automakers can never seem to work all the bugs out BEFORE releasing it to the John Q.......

I hear ya'. Bronco is having issues with the tops. Seen other examples too over the years.

At least the Ranger has been out there a while.

Friend of mine has had the hybrid version on order for months. Latest estimate for delivery is early 2022. Only hybrid versions seem to be delayed. Truck is getting good reviews.

I just don't get why they'd bring back the ranger after all that time, just to put out yet another "cheaper" truck. Ranger was supposed to be that. Now I feel like it's this odd middle-child. They are of course quite different looking so I suppose that's it.

Before the Ranger name was on an F series pickup, it was model name for Edsel. The Ranger name was recycled for trucks.

One of my favorite Ford Rangers was the 1971 shop truck at the first tire store I worked at. Lift gate on the back. 300 I-6 (I think), three on the tree.
Short bed, two door. We used to beat on that thing too. Couldn't kill it.

called the Ford place and was told they had one truck there but it was sold.
I road by in the mav to look at it. when I got there a guy came out and said "that's a 73."
we talked a few minutes about the 73 Grabber he had in high school.
I mentioned I was there to see the Maverick truck and maybe test drive it. he said the guy just left in it...:slap:
he went on to tell me he had bought the first one they sold...:yup: he loves it and went on to tell me the reason he was there he had just ordered 2 more. also told me if I could meet him at the dealership tomorrow morning around 10:00AM he would bring his by for me to test drive...:thumbs2:
he was telling me about a Mavericktruckclub.com. I checked it out, a couple of the members have wives that have one also.
if all goes well I will order mine and Effie's while I'm there. the salesman said $1,000 would be the down payment for the two. delivery date...middle of next year...:slap:

    :drive:drove the maverick truck today...:yup:
it was very impressive for a $20K truck that has $30K in electronics on it for standard options. I don't see how they can build that truck for this price.
getting the XLT with $1,690 in options....hard rollup cover for the back ($1200), trailer hitch package ($100)...color ($390)...Hot Pepper Red ... $25,015.
going in the morning to order...guesstimate...4 months delivery date.
