Can anyone that know's help me out? I'm trying to install my 94 Ford 5.0 HO engine on my 71 Comet and i want some headers. What headers can i buy that would fit?
Buy some for a Maverick with a 302, I think the hooker 6901 are the go to but not sure. I went with headman shorties for clearance and they had nice thick flanges and no issues with ground clearance.
In case you don't know, the Fox body oil pan isn't going to fit Mav/Comet chassis. You'll have to drill or replace timing cover for front dipstick usage. There's no boss for clutch or or column shift linkage, Mustang outlets sell a bracket that can be used in its place.
A side note on the clutch linkage. My roller-cammed crate engine didn't have the clutch linkage attachment on the side of the block and the bracket I bought from a Mustang supplier wouldn't work with my 6901 Hookers. Since I had all of the clutch linkage from the stock set up, I drilled the block location based on multiple measurements on the original block we had removed (measure 100X, drill once!) It works fine but if you're converting from an automatic and don't have the stock linkage I'd check with a conversion specialty company for a hydraulic setup. Bruce
So far I like all the info I'm receiving from you guys. I appreciate all of it. If you guys or anyone else knows more about this conversion I'm doing I appreciate extra info. Thank you guys so much
I bought the slave cylinder kit from Rosehill Performance and a Wilwood mater cylinder that I made work. If you are going manual I understand Modern Driveline has a nice kit to add hydraulics without screwing around like I did to make things work.
Thank you for that input, if my cable set up doesn't work then i'll go that route. I bought this aftermarket clutch cable setup a while back but i still have not tried to install. I know that the hydraulic setup is better so we'll see how all of this goes.
