I Am currently struggling with a 77 Maverick. When I turn on the switch to the blower motor it comes on and makes noise, but also drains the electrical system so bad that it makes the alternator squeal. I'm hoping it's the blower motor...but could it be the switch? If so...how do I get that out?
Welcome!!! This is 99% a blower motor problem(or inadequate alt, belt, etc). If switch had fault that draws amount of current necessary to cause your issue, you'd be wondering why there was smoke coming out of dash. Unplug the three wire connector on heater plentium, assuming that stops issue heater motor is bad, binding, etc..
I tested the blower motor and it works great...I have replaced the alternator and belt. Can I put in a toggle switch
It would appear that the switch on the dash is bad, should be able to find another or bad wiring in between switch to connector.
