Old driveshaft. Way to small. 2 1/4" will get replaced with a 3" new one. At least I won't have to measure it.

I scraped off almost that much off my timing cover/water pump area a few weeks back. I'm terrified what I might find in this area.

Hey MoJo ! Here's an update on the inside hood latch I'am installing on my Daughters 72 Maverick . Get a Hood Latch
from a 2002 TAURUS ( other years may fit also ) I'am sending photos of the latch AND the installation the Hood Latch
CABLE is part no. DORMAN 912-001 . I'am thinking that if your can SECURE y0ur Hood in a CLOSED position then they (thieves) can't reach the engine compartment. I don't think you can buy a NEW NOS hood latch so you may have
to resort to Hitting the Salvage Yards .. The Hood Latch we selected has a SAFETY CATCH built in to prevent an accidental opening while underway . It's a good idea for a lot of reasons .I'll be sending photos of the install when I get
    it going .

    Hey Bruce :
I'am gathering info and pictures for installing an INSIDE HOOD RELEASE with Safety Catch for MoJo .. It's not too
difficult to hook it up . Its a TAURUS 2002 Hood Latch and a Cable Release that is NEW from Auto Stores that make it
all work . I installed this on my COMET years ago and it worked well . I'll print pictures of the work when ongoing .

New Driveshaft built for her and new fuel tank sending unit and rubber grommet. Funny now a 71-73 Mustang sending unit and gas tank grommet are the same as a 72 Comet. Parts cross over is the secret to success.
That old 2 1/4" shaft was just to ugly. 3" is much better.

this one is also the same...
Harold, was working on a gas tank in a '65 Plymouth and had to order a tank grommet. i ran it by the house and checked its fit to a mav. filler tube, it fit as if it were made for it...:thumbs2:

Note...no Plymouths/Mavericks were hurt in the testing of this grommet....

Thanks for the reply. I've swapped into many other Fords, but it has been 30 years since I did a Maverick. It seems that I just pulled a pickup motor and it all worked back then.
