Looks great. I bought the rear leafs with the U-clamp/bolt style keepers like yours and realized that the bolts on the front clamp we’re hitting the sub frame when compressed. It was a couple years ago and I don’t remember where I bought them from but something to keep an eye out for.

I also noticed that when I mounted them. I pushed them out as much as possible so when I tighten up the U bolts on the diff, it can me a little clearance. I also put the bolt head toward the frame.

Finishing up all the loose ends. Had to modify the pedal cable mounts. fortunately I've acquired a wide assortment of mounts, springs and carb linkage. Otherwise, it would be a "no go". Even the carb's linkage ball comes in 3 different sizes.

I was wondering which leaf springs you purchased and if you can post a photo of the stance with the wheels on? Mine probably need replacement. Looking for ideas. Thanks.

Made some progress on my gauge package. My first thought was to use the original spacer that went between the gauges and bezel but that was rapidly turning into a train wreck. My next though was PVC pipe, I had plans to buy some 4" to make tubes to hold metal remnants so I figured why not go buy a piece and see what happens. Turns out 4" was too small, strike two.

At this point I was seriously considering contacting the guy on facebook that makes the flat panel but I was bent on a stock looking bezel with the Dakota Digital VHX gauges. At this point I was straining the brain for a source that would provide what I needed but was faced with dead end after dead end. This is where I had one of those 2 AM wakes ups where the brain kicked it up a notch, why not try the belled end of the pipe, the one that goes over the OD of the 4" PVC? It was perfect!

I don't quite have the angle right yet but it won't take much, I am tempted to stick it in the car and see if it will even be an issue first. Once that's all dialed in I will smooth the inside so it's seamless and build the gauge holder. This should work out very well as the problem with the other two failed plans was the blocked a bit of the four smaller gauges and the pipe opens it up a lot.

Yes the gauges are VHX and I haven't nailed that down yet. I could do epoxy, it wouldn't carry any weight other than the pvc. I would really like to try plastic repair staples but I'm not splurging for that tool not knowing if it will work on the PVC pipe. We have one at work but I'm not in a place where I can take things in and try it. I'll share it when I figure it out!

Putting staples in a 50year old plastic might be somewhat risky

I like the look, I prefer the analog gauges and they seemed like the best bet to fit the stock bezel with a full compliment of gauges. I had looked at others and didn't like the way they scrunched the tach and speedo to fit the others. If you could get the HDX where one gauge was the tach and the other contained just the fuel, oil, volt and tamp I would have went that way. Set the digital readout to speed and you would be set!

They aren't traditional staples, these are heated and melt into the plastic.

Went to a junkyard today, pulled some parts off of some soon to be dead mavericks. 35564A13-9019-4990-A700-A9A36C1B9778.jpeg 7B7C476F-DFDD-45E8-9155-38608CB4FF59.jpeg

Pulled the heated/defrost box out to replace the heater core and clean it. This is why you clean them out when you get these ones that have set for awhile. Especially if you're in Pine tree country. That and blow out the cowling.
Pulled the front brakes apart to check them. Bearing grease like road tar, and you can see the rust and years of age what it does. Backing plates in good shape, surprisingly. Replaced hoses, wheel cyl, and new hardware kit "in the mail", to put them back together. New MC, brake hoses and all new wheel cyl., new shoes and hardware kit, flushed all the lines. When it comes to brakes, there is no room for shortcuts or compromising.
    New spring perches and shocks.
