im ready to place a new bulb in my dome lamp an dpossibly replace both domes door jam switches .when i got the car i couldnt get the dome light to go off so i removed the bulb ,so the next day i realized the passenger side dome light switch wasnt even there , so my question is will that cause the dome light to stay on if one of the door jam switches is missing or not functioning properly? kinda woul dlike to find out before i spend any cash thanks
Missing switch keeps the circuit open, so no light from that side. Possible to have a broken switch that would keep it on but unlikely. The other option is the headlight switch rotated into the "dome light on" position. Did you check the headlight switch?
no i havnt thought about the headlight switch but i will have to replace the dome light bulb first since i dont know what i did with mine lol
It doesn’t sound love your switch problem, but one upgrade I did to my 72 was instead of a bulb or led bulb replacement I got a LED light panel and wires it it. They are super bright if you think you need extra light in there.
I like the LED panel idea. I've seen a lot of the lens yellowed or burnt from the stock bulbs, mine had one of those lens.
Like Frank said, incandescent can burn and/or yellow the lens. I used what they call a Festoon led, works great.
The car has the deluxe dome/map lights. I believe it was the warm white version of this. https://www.hipoparts.com/9-smd-27-led-courtesy-light-bulb-41mm-festoon-type-warm-or-cool-white/
