I haven’t had a dwell/tachometer for many years. The last one was a Sears model. Does anyone have any suggestions for a dwell/ tach from Amazon?

    Thanks.

Well, I picked up this digital model, it’s mostly the tach and dwell features I want for tuneups.

The Dwell/Tack arrived. It comes with an induction pickup to clip on a spark plug wire for RPM.

    Kewl...

'Bout only thing I'd use dwell on the makeshift Comet TFI ignition, be interesting to see coil saturation time. Runs good & hasn't burned up coil, assuming it's OK. Doubt my 45 year old Sears can accurately measure the system. Probably use the Ohms, Tach, Temp & Current functions.

I take it that my 50 year old Stewart-Warner is in the same boat.

    Look familiar?

I purchased this analyzer almost 50 years ago new at Sears automotive at Landmark shopping mall in Alexandria VA right after I got out of the Army. I was working on cars to help pay for college. I later moved to the Tidewater area to finish my last two years of college at Old Dominion University.

Bought my first roll away tool chest at the Sears store in Norfolk as I was working summers full time as a technician at Tidewater Mack.

I remember one day a Mack concrete mixer came in with a full load of concrete and a failed drum bearing, we had to weld a hook to one end of the drum to lift it in order to change out the bearing. We used a block and tackle attached to a huge ceiling beam in the shop. We were in the process of lifting it when the hook (not the weld) broke. Almost brought the building down on top of us! We Mack technicians were a crazy bunch; most were X over-the-road drivers.

BTW, the analyzer still works good as new.

Daymn Rick, I had to run out to garage to see if mine was still there. :thumbs2:

Mine probably came from Portsmouth store, lived in Deep Creek & worked in that store two or three times a week. Also made service calls to Norfolk store fairly regurarly, occasionally to Pembroke.

On I-64, I see Tidewater Mack regurarly. Appears roof is OK ;)

    Probably...

I made a set clamp cables from a set of wires from an old voltmeter with the same fittings.
