Howdy everybody, I am finally getting around to installing my fitech EFI system. I purchased enough fuel line for both return and the new supply line. Instead of routing a new return line I was thinking of using the original hardline and just route this to the return? does anyone see a issue with this? The supply line should be under 58psi or so of pressure and I do not think the return line is under pressure. the new supply line is 3/8” and i will most likely just follow the original lines.
Read my post #4....... http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/fuel-injection-question.121249/#post-1150044 David
With my FiTech I ran a 3/8" aluminum line back to the fuel tank filler neck. Where were you planning on connecting the old hard line to the tank?
Nickel-Copper brake line bends easily and resists kinking. for boost-referenced bypasss regulator on supercharged '74 with 250 six, the original feed was used and 3/8 return to tank followed it to rear and the filer neck like previous post. Electric EFI type pump is mounted in front of tank. . . .
I remember years ago someone in the marine industry telling me not to use copper lines with gasoline......... "Now, copper interferes significantly in the gum content of gasoline, because it is a catalyst of radicalar oxidation reactions and it accelerates peroxidation. Therefore, this metal must be avoided in any metal alloy that comes into contact with gasoline in the feeding system of engines." https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ef049849h Do not know how this would apply to return line though or so long as copper layer is wrapped between the nickel layer......... Will here we go ... I installed a FITEC system on my son's 64 Falcon . It I remember FITEC does not recommend Aluminum line ? ... I used galvanized hard line 3/8 for delivery 5/16 for return lines. With phoenix fitting at the pump and at Throttle Body with flexible lines and Phoenix . And mounted the pump as low and close to the tank as possible with flexible line.
Happy with Fitech install? Pro’s or con’s? I like seeing the alternate fuel return line ideas you guys are sharing. What’s Phoenix lines?
As for overall performance we are happy good drivability and self learning .. Cons tech help could be better. As for Phoenix fitting is like Russel AN or aircraft styles fittings ( i have a Phoenix outlet near me )
The supply line shouldn't be aluminum due to high fuel pressure, return or vent line doesn't matter as it's low pressure.
Well, they must have given you a different manual than they gave me. Mine just says not to use aluminum on the high pressure supply line.
