After realizing that Ford produced the Maverick in Brasil as well, I have tried to gather some information about these cars. Suprisingly, they were offered with manual transmission and the most sought after model there is a GT. The V8 was offered in other Maverick variants as well. Unfortunately for me, these cars are quite expensive if in good condition - expect $30.000. The bumpers remaind small over the whole production run from ‘73 - ‘79. There was a small face lift in ‘77 or ‘78, with modified tail lights and a revised hood for the GT. But this doesn’t seem to impact the price there. I’m not sure how complicated a sale is and if there are any restrictions concerning money transfer. Furthermore, import costs to Germany might be quite higher from Brasil compared to the US - and probably not so smooth, because not so common. So I think Brasil will be a dead end for me. Oliver
Brazilian Maverick production was small, making them a $$$$$ prize today. Many of the Brazilian Maverick's components were imported from US. Includes 289(Mexico I believe, US stopped in late '68) plus 302 & automatic trans. Only Ford V8 built in Brazil were the 292 Y blocks. Early units included a Willys engine and other non desirable features. Were also 2.3L 4cyl models as Ford opened a plant to build/export those around '72. I've seen early Fox Stang(and probably Mustang-II/Pinto) with Brazilian 2.3.
As per an article the 302s (the only V8s installed in Mavericks) were from Mexico, initially falsely assumed to come from Canada.
